Prior to teaching at BCD, I taught for five years in Chicago at a high school and middle school. I have also taught in Colorado at the college level and middle school level. I enjoy reading, travel and baking, as well as spending time with my daughter, Madeline, and son, Henry. I moved to Colorado from Chicago in 2004 and love to hike and ski.

I taught 6th grade in Missoula, Montana for a year, moved home to New Jersey and taught for one year before moving to Sumatra, Indonesia to teach English to High School aged children. Later I moved back to the east coast and taught children who were on Broadway Musicals and on the Disney Channel as well as several movies. In my spare time I love to mountain bike, ski, fly fish, travel and go birding with Robin Hoover and Kathy Steinbaugh! I volunteer at the Birds of Prey Foundation in the ICU working with sick or injured raptors. I also volunteer and travel with People to People Student Ambassadors. I have lived and taught in New Jersey, New York, Montana, California, Sumatra, and England before settling down in Colorado in 2001.

I have taught almost every subject but my specialty is science where I have held several leadership roles. When not in the classroom, I spend as much time as possible exploring the outdoors. I graduated from the California State University, Sacramento in 2006 with a Bachelors of Science in Molecular Biology and a minor in Chemistry. In 2007, after working as a research assistant at the Scripps Research Institute , I completed a MEd in Math, Science and Technology at the University of San Diego in 2009, and earned a teaching certificate in California in Biology and Chemistry. Then I moved to Colorado, where I earned a teaching certificate in Secondary Science and began teaching high school biology, chemistry, and physics at Cherry Creek High School, then Peak to Peak High School.
Eventually I decided to go back into research, working for a muscle stem cell research lab as a research assistant at CU Boulder. Since then, I also completed coursework in Integrative Physiology in 2019 at CU Boulder, while working for a prominent biotech company. I now dedicates myself full-time to tutoring high school and college students in math and science. I am an avid skier and rising snowboarder in the winter and love to hike with my dog at all other times and play weekend warrior as an old boy rugby player for Boulder Rugby Club.
Prior to teaching at BCD, I taught secondary art in my hometown in Havana, Cuba and later trained and worked as a clinical psychologist. Upon moving to the US, I taught middle school Spanish in Massachusetts, while completing my teaching licensure program. The lure of the Colorado mountains and sunshine was too much for my family to resist, so we moved out here to complement our passion for dance and music with a healthy outdoor lifestyle.

I am so happy to be back in the Colorado sunshine after the past few years teaching MYP Design and Science in Princeton, NJ. A teacher for 15 years, I have found a passion in teaching design through the lens of technology. My days are spent happily tinkering in the BCD Innovation Lab. Outside of school I love watching documentaries, cooking, and getting outdoors with my husband and 2 daughters.
Prior to teaching at BCD, I taught 7th grade Language Arts in Austin, Texas, my hometown. I love teaching reading, writing, and even grammar to middle school students. In my free time, you can find me birding (sometimes with Ms. Bond!) or hiking with my husband and two sons. I also enjoy baking, reading, writing poetry, and spending time with family and friends.
