Parents

Overview

Parents are an essential part of the BCD community. As volunteers, supporters of our programs, fans on the sidelines, and contributors to our philanthropic endeavors, the BCD parents are engaged! This is a community of families who care about education and who want their children raised in a safe, supportive yet challenging environment.

Summer reading requirements

Boulder Country Day believes that reading, both in and out of school, is a key to developing into a successful learner. Reading helps students understand themselves and others, sparks imagination, encourages focus, and assists in relaxation and mood regulation. Reading during the summer also helps prepare children for school in the fall. A few minutes each day can maintain fluency, decoding, and flow, and we find that children who read (with their parents or on their own) tend to build stamina, confidence, and competence that benefits them throughout the school year.

The below reading lists include both assigned and suggested reading for the grade(s) your child(ren) will be entering in 2023-24.
