Preschool through IB Middle School

After School

Your child’s day does not end at 3:00 p.m. and neither does the educational experience at Boulder Country Day! At BCD we strive to support the diverse needs of our families. After 3 at BCD is an after school program for BCD students only. The program is designed to support working parents and families who need their children to stay at school after 3:00 pm. Our after school program provides meaningful and exciting learning experiences in a safe and caring environment.

After 3 at BCD is composed of two parts:
•  After school program - 3:00 pm - 5:45 pm
•  Specialty Classes

After School Program

Students who participate in After 3 at BCD are supervised at all times. BCD faculty members escort students at dismissal time to our after school locations.

BCD’s youngest students (Preschool, Prekindergarten and Kindergarten) are signed into our after school program “home base” located in the preschool building activity room. Students participate in:
• a variety of age appropriate activities, including arts/crafts, cooking projects, science experiments, books, and puzzles
• outdoor playtime (weather permitting)
• snack-time (provided by BCD)
Elementary school students in first through fifth grades are escorted to our school library located in the administration building where we take attendance before the students participate in:
• a quiet homework club in BCD’s library.
• snack-time (provided by BCD)
• outdoor play (weather permitting)
• At 5pm, students are escorted to the preschool building where they join in age appropriate activities in a
  mixed-age setting.

Middle school students participate in our middle school homework club located in the middle school. Our standard billing rates, as listed below, apply. At 4:30pm, students who have not been picked up will join our elementary homework club/activities. At 5:00pm all students will be escorted to the preschool building where they join in age appropriate activities in a mixed-age setting.

2019-20 Rates

We offer two different payment options for our after school program.

Unlimited Use – $400.00
per trimester per child with a $800.00 per trimester cap per family (Note – The $800.00 cap ensures that families with more than two children enrolled will never pay more than $800.00 per trimester for after school). To register, click here.

Hourly - $12/hour per child, per hour – Students who are not signed up for unlimited use will automatically be billed at our hourly rate. We count time used in ½ hour segments. Invoices are generated each month.

Specialty Classes

Specialty classes are offered each trimester and are designed to meet the varied interests of BCD students such as cooking, sports, science, chess, technology, STEM, Lego™ Engineering , etc. Our after school specialty classes save parents time and make scheduling easy!

• Students enrolled in an after school specialty class are escorted by a BCD faculty member to their class.
• Students who stay on campus after a specialty class ends are picked up from the class and escorted  to the after school program “home base” located in the preschool building.
• Specialty classes vary throughout the year. A catalogue of after school specialty classes is published each trimester. Click here to view the catalogue.
• Please note that the fees associated with specialty classes are separate from and in addition to our after school program fees.

BCD reserves the right to cancel any after school specialty class that does not have sufficient enrollment. Full refunds are available for program cancellation due to low enrollment. You will be notified at least one week prior to the start date of class if the class is canceled.

BCD requires payment in full at the time of registration for all after school specialty classes. Refunds are not available after 7 days prior to the first day of any after school specialty class. If you would like to request a refund, please email us at

Preschool and prekindergarten age students attend before care in the preschool building. Elementary age students attend before care in the administration building art room. Middle school students attend before care in the middle school. We offer this service free of charge to BCD families.
