Global Awareness Week at BCD - Jan 22nd - 25th
Next week is Global Awareness Week at BCD and includes the following events:
Celebration of Cultures - January 23rd
Model UN - January 24th
Preschool Olympics - January 25th
CELEBRATION OF CULTURES - JANUARY 23RD
Join us at the Celebration of Cultures on Wednesday, January 23rd from 5:30pm - 7:00pm.
(Note: Crafts will be set up by 5:15pm if families want to arrive early.)
All BCD families come together for a cultural potluck
- Bring a dish, side or dessert from your family's culture or any cultural dish you love (tip: you don't have to cook it, you can buy it)
- Include a label with your dish (see the cute example below) include a list of ingredients for allergy purposes
- Share your culture with others by decorating your dish with photos, trinkets, or artifacts from your heritage
- Students can travel the world with a 'Tasting Passport' and be eligible for a prize
- Enjoy international, musical entertainment
MS MODEL UNITED NATIONS, JANUARY 24TH - INVITATION TO PARENTS
Each year, all middle school students participate in the Model United Nations. In teams, students represent a country by researching it, writing resolutions about its issues, and defending those resolutions at a gathering called the MUN General Assembly. In the process, students learn about international relations and how issues across the world affect all of us. This year's Model UN will be held on Thursday, January 24th. Parents are invited to observe from 9:15am - 10:15am in the Gymnasium. Come see tomorrow’s leaders in action!
5th Grade Parents – this observation time follows your 5th Grade Roundtable. Please come over to watch, even if for just a few minutes!
All interested parents are also invited to join Mr. Welch, Head of Middle School, at 8:45am in the Middle School Activity room for coffee and to learn about the global component of the IB curriculum and how that relates to things like our Model UN Day.
Friday, January 25th, will be a spirit wear day in celebration of Preschool Olympics. Wear BCD gear or colors (blue and green) and come cheer on our Preschoolers.
PRESCHOOL OLYMPICS - JANUARY 25TH
This is a 'not to be missed' event at BCD. For sure, this is one of the cutest assemblies of the year.
