Embracing our Grandfriends Every Day
This Friday we open the doors of our school to our grandfriends and I hope it serves as a reminder to us all to open our hearts and minds to them as well. It is said that a wise man allows others to speak into their life.
Our logo for Grandfriends Day is always a depiction of owls. But we wonder if it isn’t us who are the wise ones when we lend our time and our ears to these guiding figures in our lives. It may be the story they tell of how special the gift of a brand new bike felt, or the pride in purchasing their first car, or it may be the same curl in their smile that the teacher can recognize as yours; whatever it is that makes them grand, let us be grateful for their involvement in our lives. And to the full-grown, non-student reader of this piece, make it your grandfriends day as well. Give someone a call and let them know they are grand ….and then maybe just practice some active listening from there.
