BCD Travel Program Headed to Santa Fe and Denver in April

The BCD travel program creates trips tied to curriculum that enhance our IB education and allow BCD students to discover and embrace their excellence and expand their horizons through unique experiences. This April we have two great trips running.

Santa Fe, New Mexico
On April 12th - 16th, 32 students and our wonderfully talented art teachers, Londa Bevins and Lindsay Droter, will journey to this lovely red rock desert steeped in artistic tradition to follow the footsteps of Georgia O’Keefe. The trip starts in Abiquiu at Georgia O’Keefe’s Ghost Ranch. Students will hike, horseback ride, and take photos on her sprawling desert her ranch. From there, they will travel to Santa Fe. In this artistic enclave, the highest state capital in the US, the students will visit the Georgia O’Keefe museum, MeowWolf, and The New Mexico Museum of Art. To wrap up the trip, as they travel home, students will visit the art town of Madrid. The town has become an artists’ community with galleries lining New Mexico State Road 14.
State Capital and GrowHaus
In addition, BCD has planned local travel for those not attending the Santa Fe trip. On Friday April 12th and Tuesday April 16th (there is no school Monday 4/15). On Friday half of the students will visit the state Capitol and the other half will visit the GrowHaus neighborhood garden. On Tuesday, the groups will switch locations.
(From their Website) The GrowHaus is a nonprofit indoor farm in Denver's Elyria-Swansea neighborhood. Our vision is to catalyze a neighborhood-based food system in our community that is healthyequitable, and resident-driven. At the GrowHaus students will learn about sustainable food production, food distribution, and food education. We are excited to add this civic and agricultural education to our program.
