Where are they Now?

Blake Wagner - Class of 2010

Where have you been since your BCD graduation?  Which high school, college, grad school or job?
Post BCD I went to Niwot High on the IB track and the CDC for early engineering courses. After that, I attended Hofstra University in New York where I studied Mechanical Engineering with minors in Business, Industrial Design, and Mathematics. During my time there, I worked in the Engineering Lab & I ran a Makerspace focused on entrepreneurial product development & prototyping.
After graduating from Hofstra, I was offered a position at a company called quip, a dental consumer products startup, where I helped design several products. I now work at the Drone Racing League, where I am designing next year's racing drone and accompanying event hardware.

What is your primary area of study or what job are you holding?
At drone racing league I am the mechanical engineer on the racing team. I will be designing next year's racing drone, along with all the accompanying event hardware.

What special activities have been a part of your college experience such as sports, study abroad, research, etc and why is it of importance to you?
At Hofstra, I was on the executive board of the rock climbing club, the school's largest club at over 350 members where we took 30 students into Brooklyn to teach about the fun of rock climbing. I was also heavily involved in the Idea Hub, Hofstra's startup incubator, where I helped students prototype and ideate on their ideas for physical products, and pitched a few myself.

What are the 1-2 things they learned at BCD, or that influenced them while at BCD, that they carry with them today?
Juggling. Trust me, it doesn't stop after BCD so get good at it while it's easy!
