Welcome from our Head of School

Welcome to Boulder Country Day School!

List of 1 items.

  • We are thrilled you are joining our community and look forward to your partnership.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Boulder Country Day School’s dynamic, inclusive, and joyful learning community. This year, your child will have countless opportunities to explore many paths, meet challenges with curiosity, and be a part of something bigger. They will grow as students, artists, athletes, and friends, while your family connects with our caring teachers and diverse community. We look forward to partnering with you to make the BCD journey a memorable and enriching experience for your whole family.

At BCD, we believe education is most effective in the context of a positive relationship between home and school. Mutual trust and support between and among parents and teachers create an atmosphere that allows every student to benefit from the educational environment at BCD. Since parents and teachers often see young people from different vantage points, we have much to learn from one another. The quality and effectiveness of our teaching and care are enhanced when parents understand our mission as educators and voice their hopes and concerns about their children’s education. We can provide the best learning environment when we have opportunities to discuss the school’s philosophy, programs, and activities together. In this spirit, we intend to make communication between home and school as open and productive as possible.

To achieve our goal of true school-family partnerships, we ask our families to review our Portrait of a Parent (POP). Developed by parents for parents, the POP describes the attributes that should be present in all BCD parents as we work together on behalf of our children. (Please note: our teachers and staff have similar characteristics that describe a successful BCD employee.)

We have many volunteer and service opportunities for families at BCD, and we warmly welcome your involvement on campus. Just as your children will make lifelong friends, we hope you will also find your lifelong community. If you have any questions that can’t be answered on the new family welcome pages, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to meeting you and your family on campus soon; welcome to BCD!

    Yours in partnership,
    Robin Frank
    Head of School

ParentSquare is BCD's Communication Platform

Dear New families -

Please note the below IMPORTANT details with you regarding ParentSquare—the platform BCD uses to communicate with our families. A separate email invitation to join the BCD ParentSquare community will be sent to you from a ParentSquare address.

Please find time to create an account, and familiarize yourself with ParentSquare prior to mid-July when our summer ParentSquare Bulldog Bulletin will be posted. Details and links to create an account, download the app and training resources are below.

Please note, ParentSquare is the communication platform we use as opposed to email or texting. ParentSquare has features to provide both class/grade level information and for you to have private communications with your teachers. Email is rarely used, and generally only with Middle School when students need to be copied on the communications. Please note that you can adjust your notification settings to determine how best each parent/guardian would like to receive information.

The BCD Portal (where you applied) is accessible from the BCD homepage (upper right corner) and is used to:
  • Maintain your contact information with BCD (changes to contact details should not be made in ParentSquare)
  • Annually complete your profile forms with details such as family doctor information, persons authorized to pickup your children, and photo authorization
  • Monitor Middle School students grades, attendance, and other academic information
Resources and support regarding both ParentSquare and the Portal, etc will be offered at our Resource Fair that is held during our Hopes & Dream parent-teacher conference days in August.
ParentSquare is a unified communications platform designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with BCD. All parent communication to school and school communication to parents is done via ParentSquare. Email is not used.

ParentSquare will be used to:
  • Send and receive school and class information
  • Receive urgent school alerts
  • Share pictures and files
  • See calendar items
  • Sign up to volunteer
  • Schedule parent-teacher conferences
  • and much more
NOTIFICATIONS & SETTINGS TIPS
You choose how and when you want to receive information through establishing notification preferences ie, email, text, or in-app notifications.

Tip#1: For too many notifications
If you have downloaded the App to your phone, you may want to try the following settings:
  • Instant for notifications,
  • Digest for email, and
  • Off for text
This will allow you to receive notifications through the app as posts are made with the benefit of a follow-up email at the end of the day that will digest all communications from that day.

Tip#2: To be sure you don’t miss any posts
On the mobile app (via the bell icon at the top right) you can see all posts and alerts in chronological order in one place. You will need to have notifications turned on for the app for this to work. Note, the bell icon on the website does not do the same thing, this is only a mobile app feature.
