Meet Randi Reinhold, BCD's Coordinator of Equity & Inclusion
As far back as I can remember, I have always felt driven by a desire to see, know, and understand others who are both similar to and different from myself.
I have also always recognized the importance of feeling seen, heard, and validated myself, since this has often been an area of challenge for me, given certain aspects of my identity. As a queer-identified and neurodivergent native New Yorker from a middle class family, I feel as though my work as an advocate for equity and inclusion was an inexorable calling. My journey as an educator has led me quite naturally, but also intentionally, to my current role as Coordinator of Equity and Inclusion at BCD. Throughout my twelve years as a classroom teacher in early childhood education in New York City, I developed a keen sense of the positive impacts that engaging in dialog and understanding around cultural differences has on students’ social, emotional, and academic lives. Throughout my career, I have devoted a great amount of time and energy into my own professional development and growth, with a particular focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field of education. These experiences empowered me to take on an increasingly active role in anti-bias education within the communities that I have served. I am grateful on a daily basis to be a member of the BCD community, and to have the opportunity to build and strengthen connections with and between students, families, and colleagues and to provide ongoing support in service of our school’s commitment to inclusivity.
