Prior to joining the BCD community, I spent 5 years teaching preschool through 2nd grade in the Boulder area. I also spent some time working in a law firm with an emphasis in educational law. I am a Boulder native, and it should come as no surprise that I love to be in the mountains and play outside. You can also find me curled up with a good book or enjoying the company of my friends and family.
Prior to teaching at BCD, I played professional basketball in Europe and coached collegiate basketball at Colorado State University. One of my all-time favorite things to do is play basketball. I was fortunate enough to play collegiate basketball at the University of Colorado, and love to pass on my passion for the game to younger players.
In my free time I enjoy running and training for half marathons, reading a good book while drinking coffee, laughing with my family, and practicing my cooking skills. I am enthusiastic and passionate about learning something new and growing with my students each day.
While in graduate school at the University of Virginia, I worked as a therapist for children with Autism and sensory processing disorders. I have 5 years of teaching experience ranging from early childhood education through 2nd grade in both public and independent schools in Virginia and Kentucky. I love spending time outdoors with my husband, James, and 1-year-old son, Mason, and I enjoy practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai in my spare time.
My favorite things about living in Boulder are the people, sunshine, and mountains. Prior to teaching at BCD, I taught first grade at Harding Academy in Nashville, Tennessee for six years. Before that I taught in North Ridgeville City Schools in Ohio for five years. When I am not teaching, you can most likely find me spending time outside with my family. I enjoy hiking, exploring, and anything to do with water.
After several years of working with children in various outdoor education environments, I have decided to pursue my passion for teaching within the classroom! I enjoy all things outdoors such as hiking and biking and love reading, science, and the arts. My biggest personal accomplishments thus far are thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2015, and biking 1,500 miles through Patagonia in 2017. I am thrilled to be planting my roots in Colorado with my two dogs, Pebbles and Boots.
After college graduation, I taught many years in preschool, day camp, and summer camp settings, including leading teens on wilderness adventures. Prior to teaching at BCD, I taught physical education to children ages 1-12 years old at a private child care center and taught the preschool program for 3 years. During my spare time I enjoy training for marathons, Nordic ski racing, and playing rugby. I run in Marathons nationwide (including the New York Marathon) and compete in the American Birkebeiner (54K nordic ski race in northern Wisconsin) annually. My goal is to place in top 50 women as I have in years’ past. I also enjoy riding my road bike and going to Yoga.
I am originally from New Hampshire, but moved to Colorado because I love to ski, bike, and hike. I taught ski lessons for six winters and have a passion for working with kids. I taught kindergarten through 3rd grade science at a private school in New York before teaching a combined 2nd/3rd grade class in 2012. My favorite place in the world is Lake George, New York where I can boat, paddle board, sail, and relax! My favorite part about teaching is sharing my love for learning with my students.
I have taught in the Boulder area for the last 9 years. I am married and have three children; two in high school and one in middle school. In my free time I love to be outside, spend time with my family, cook and read. In the classroom, I get great joy seeing children engaged in their learning and becoming lifelong learners.

I live in Colorado because I love to ski, hike, bike, and to be outside! Cooking is my favorite hobby. I went to The Culinary School of the Rockies for a year-and-a-half program and got to eat, sleep, and breathe cooking!
Prior to coming to BCD, I taught Latin and classics as well as coaching lacrosse, field hockey, and soccer for five years at The Episcopal School of Dallas. I wanted to move to Colorado because I love to hike, bike, camp, and enjoy the great outdoors! I love spending time with my family and traveling as much as possible.
