Prior to joining the BCD community, I spent 5 years teaching preschool through 2nd grade in the Boulder area. I also spent some time working in a law firm with an emphasis in educational law. I am a Boulder native, and it should come as no surprise that I love to be in the mountains and play outside. You can also find me curled up with a good book or enjoying the company of my friends and family.
Prior to teaching at BCD, I played professional basketball in Europe and coached collegiate basketball at Colorado State University. One of my all-time favorite things to do is play basketball. I was fortunate enough to play collegiate basketball at the University of Colorado, and love to pass on my passion for the game to younger players.
I have been teaching for over 16 years in both independent and public schools from California to Colorado. I live in Niwot with my husband and three children. My husband and and I spend quite a bit of our free time watching our kids play sports. Asa family, we love to hike. walk our two golden retrievers, travel , and go the movies.
In my free time I enjoy running and training for half marathons, reading a good book while drinking coffee, laughing with my family, and practicing my cooking skills. I am enthusiastic and passionate about learning something new and growing with my students each day.
My favorite things about living in Boulder are the people, sunshine, and mountains. Prior to teaching at BCD, I taught first grade at Harding Academy in Nashville, Tennessee for six years. Before that I taught in North Ridgeville City Schools in Ohio for five years. When I am not teaching, you can most likely find me spending time outside with my family. I enjoy hiking, exploring, and anything to do with water.
I taught Kindergarten for three years at Roxborough Primary, an IB Elementary School in Littleton, Colorado. My other teaching experience includes over ten years of working for different Kindergarten Enrichment classrooms, teaching internships, and day camp programs. I am proud to be a Colorado native and enjoy spending my time outdoors with my husband and family. My hobbies include tennis, hiking, and trying new recipes.
After college graduation, I taught many years in preschool, day camp, and summer camp settings, including leading teens on wilderness adventures. Prior to teaching at BCD, I taught physical education to children ages 1-12 years old at a private child care center and taught the preschool program for 3 years. During my spare time I enjoy training for marathons, Nordic ski racing, and playing rugby. I run in Marathons nationwide (including the New York Marathon) and compete in the American Birkebeiner (54K nordic ski race in northern Wisconsin) annually. My goal is to place in top 50 women as I have in years’ past. I also enjoy riding my road bike and going to Yoga.
Prior to joining the BCD community, I taught at Hawken School in Cleveland, Ohio for five years, both in kindergarten and third grade, and coached field hockey at various levels. In my free time I enjoy doing many different activities with my husband, including traveling, hiking, attending baseball games (Go, Tribe!), playing tennis, golf, and sand volleyball, and snuggling with our cat, Lottie.
I have taught in the Boulder area for the last 9 years. I am married and have three children; two in high school and one in middle school. In my free time I love to be outside, spend time with my family, cook and read. In the classroom, I get great joy seeing children engaged in their learning and becoming lifelong learners.
I live in Colorado because I love to ski, hike, bike, and to be outside! Cooking is my favorite hobby. I went to The Culinary School of the Rockies for a year-and-a-half program and got to eat, sleep, and breathe cooking!
Prior to coming to BCD, I taught Latin and classics as well as coaching lacrosse, field hockey, and soccer for five years at The Episcopal School of Dallas. I wanted to move to Colorado because I love to hike, bike, camp, and enjoy the great outdoors! I love spending time with my family and traveling as much as possible.
