Dear New Families,

We are thrilled you are joining our community and look forward to your partnership.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Boulder Country Day School’s dynamic, inclusive, and joyful learning community. This year, your child will have countless opportunities to explore many paths, meet challenges with curiosity, and be a part of something bigger. They will grow as students, artists, athletes, and friends, while your family connects with our caring teachers and diverse community. We look forward to partnering with you to make the BCD journey a memorable and enriching experience for your whole family.

At BCD, we believe education is most effective in the context of a positive relationship between home and school. Mutual trust and support between and among parents and teachers create an atmosphere that allows every student to benefit from the educational environment at BCD. Since parents and teachers often see young people from different vantage points, we have much to learn from one another. The quality and effectiveness of our teaching and care are enhanced when parents understand our mission as educators and voice their hopes and concerns about their children’s education. We can provide the best learning environment when we have opportunities to discuss the school’s philosophy, programs, and activities together. In this spirit, we intend to make communication between home and school as open and productive as possible.

To achieve our goal of true school-family partnerships, we ask our families to review our Portrait of a Parent (POP). Developed by parents for parents, the POP describes the attributes that should be present in all BCD parents as we work together on behalf of our children. (Please note: our teachers and staff have similar characteristics that describe a successful BCD employee.)

We have many volunteer and service opportunities for families at BCD, and we warmly welcome your involvement on campus. Just as your children will make lifelong friends, we hope you will also find your lifelong community. If you have any questions that can’t be answered on the new family welcome pages, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to meeting you and your family on campus soon; welcome to BCD!

Community-building is a cornerstone of BCD and it starts now with your welcome! Soon, you will be contacted by your host family. These members of our community are eager to serve as a resource for your family. We hope that you’ll connect virtually to ask questions and make connections. Immunization Forms

Letter to Parents of K-12th from CO Dept. of Public Health & Environment

IMMUNIZATION CERTIFICATION
A completed and signed Immunization Certification Form or a declaration of exemption must be submitted annually prior to students attending BCD.

EXEMPTION FILING

To file for reporting exemption, please use one of the below forms:
Medical Exemption Form
Non-Medical Exemption Form

Please note: If you plan to file a Non-medical Exemption Form, you must watch the Online Educational Module. At the completion of the module, you will be able to complete an electronic form to obtain a Certificate of nonmedical exemption. You can complete this form for more than one child without having to retake the course.

General Health Appraisal Form - For Preschool only

All preschool students must also submit a completed and signed General Health Appraisal Form prior to attending BCD and thereafter annually upon their wellness exam date. This form will be provided by your child's physician.

Note: students may NOT have any type of medication on their person, in their backpack, etc. aside from pre-approved emergency medications. All medications (including 'over the counter' medicines) must be provided to BCD's School Nurse and accompanied by an approved Medication Administration form.
