Learning Center
Our Learning Center is where individual potential meets personalized strategy, ensuring every child is positioned to thrive. Led by a team of dedicated specialists, we tailor support—from advanced enrichment to foundational skill-building—that empowers each student to achieve new levels of academic excellence.
Faculty & Expertise
Our Learning Center is staffed by four dedicated faculty members who bring specialized knowledge in intervention strategies, literacy development, gifted education, and addressing learning differences. Their expertise is further enhanced by certifications in methodologies such as Orton-Gillingham, Fountas & Pinnell leveled literacy, Heggerty, ADHD support, and multicultural and bilingual foundations. A key component of our work involves meaningful coaching practices with teachers to effectively differentiate instruction within the classroom. We remain committed to current, research-based, and innovative educational theories and practices, continuously seeking ways to adjust, modify, and enrich our curriculum. The Center supports a variety of pedagogies and flexible grouping strategies, enabling teachers and specialists to individualize goals for every student.
Preschool
In Preschool, the Learning Center collaborates closely with teachers to facilitate the early identification of students with exceptionalities or potential learning needs. We also provide comprehensive multisensory early literacy support to build a strong foundation for future learning.
Transitional Kindergarten - 2nd Grade
For students in Transitional Kindergarten through 2nd grade, the Learning Center offers comprehensive support in both literacy and mathematics. This is typically delivered through small-group instruction using either a push-in or pull-out model. For literacy, we utilize the Orton-Gillingham multisensory approach to foster structured literacy development. In math, learning specialists provide targeted instruction designed to strengthen foundational skills, enhance conceptual understanding, and offer enrichment opportunities for deeper exploration of grade-level concepts, all while emphasizing the importance of early intervention.
3rd - 5th Grade
In third through fifth grade, the Learning Center provides flexible, needs-based support in literacy and math. Learning specialists push into classrooms or form small, targeted groups to ensure students receive focused instruction during key academic periods, whether for intervention or enrichment. By 5th grade, this approach expands to include distinct levels of math instruction, supported by an additional Learning Specialist, ensuring all students are appropriately challenged.
Middle School
The Learning Center plays a crucial role in supporting a smooth transition from fifth to sixth grade, primarily through direct instruction on essential executive functions. This includes skills necessary for navigating assignment tracking, the 1:1 computer program, and the increased complexity of academic tasks. Students receive targeted support in language arts, math, and managing their classwork, with support gradually tapering off to prepare them for the independence required in high school. Collaboration with teachers through coaching and reflective practices ensures accommodations effectively meet each student’s unique needs.
