Counseling
We are committed to nurturing the whole child, building their emotional intelligence and resilience with the same intention we bring to their academics.
Individual Counseling
The Counseling Office provides one-on-one counseling for students with circumstantial needs as well as ongoing issues affecting their social-emotional well-being and/ or ability to produce their best work at school. Each student is able to schedule up to six individual meetings in advance with additional access during open office hours ongoing.
The office also offers biofeedback within the individual counseling umbrella. This is a wonderful tool used to help students who struggle with attention, impulse control, stress and anxiety challenges.
Family Support and Communication
Strong communication is vital and the Counseling Office is available for family support/consultation. Family support and engagement helps maintain consistency of care and increases the efficacy of any plan for a child. In cases where more support is advisable, counselors may offer referrals to resources outside of the school.
Collaboration with Outside Supports
For students receiving psychological/emotional support outside of school, our counselors will work in collaboration with those parties in order to align and reinforce the same goals and work.
Classroom Learning
Throughout the school year, BCD counselors support the school's overall social-emotional programming by facilitating character development exercises and teaching life and character building skills. Students learn ways to navigate interpersonal and social-emotional issues through experiential activities, worksheets, discussion and role-play.
