15 Reasons to Attend BCD

Values Matter

For our community to grow and thrive, we must coalesce around a shared set of standards that will guide our students toward graduation with equal parts challenge and support. Our values are the cornerstones of how we show up in our community and are tenets we work hard to uphold everyday.

Social/Emotional Learning

We teach kindness, leadership, perseverance, self-advocacy, appropriate risk taking, self-awareness, responsibility, and conflict resolution. Knowing how to navigate our world is as important as knowing about our world.

Our Campus

Our six buildings are uplifting, well-maintained, and filled with light. Our beautiful grounds are enclosed, adjacent to the Twin Lakes open space, and provide the perfect space to learn and grow. Only 5-15 minutes from most neighborhoods in Boulder, Niwot, Longmont, Louisville and Erie, we are a central choice for commuting parents.

Experiential Learning

Education has little meaning if students don’t know how to apply it. Our experiential approach teaches students in the context and environment of the world around us, so they understand not just what to learn, but why it matters. This style of learning leaves room for reflection and leads to deeper comprehension and engagement in subject matter.

Our Teachers

We love what we do, and we make sure our teachers’ passions grow by providing the flexibility, autonomy, and professional development needed to achieve their personal and professional goals. Working at BCD means being supported by the brightest minds and boldest hearts in education that challenge one another to be the best they can be.

Independent by Nature

As an independent institution, we’ve set our own bold vision for the future and have the flexibility to innovate on our journey toward achieving it. We treat families as partners in educating students, and together we create a community experience that is warm and rewarding for all.

Critical Thinking

BCD teaches PS-8th grade students to be independent thinkers. Together, we can change the course of tomorrow.

Our Community

We take care of ourselves and others, intentionally making space for everyone in the community and creating opportunities for connection and growth. This sense of inclusion is felt throughout the school experience, and we make it our responsibility to ensure everyone finds a place where they belong.

Specials and Electives

We have a lot of them! BCD offers a wide variety of classes exposing students to languages, technology, the fine and performing arts, sports, and science and electives ranging from pottery to debate to 3D design.

Friends

We help students discover who they are, how they learn, and how to capitalize on their strengths and work through their struggles, both in and out of school.

Class Size

We know our students; they are seen, heard, known and valued, and their relationships with their teachers are personal. Often half the size of the public school classrooms, BCD classes promise engaging, differentiated, and joyful learning environments where children thrive.

Bulldog Spirit

No doubt about it, we are loud and proud. Whether celebrating community with our Bulldog Families or screaming and dancing at a spirit rally, we are all proud to be Bulldogs!

Differentiated Learning

There is no one size fits all approach to learning. We know that every student learns in a slightly different way, and that’s why we provide inclusive support that meets many of the challenges and opportunities that can show up along a student’s learning journey. We value different types of learning and create space for those differences to thrive.

Public Speaking

The comfort and ability to speak one’s mind is one of the biggest factors impacting one’s ability to navigate the world with confidence. Numerous public speaking opportunities prepare students not just to be clear, succinct, and well-spoken, but to use those skills to navigate the world around them with conviction and kindness, because we know our words matter.

Outcomes

Our alumni thrive! Our graduates share that they are academically and socially prepared and most enter honors, AP or pre-IB courses. They have the confidence to speak up in class and tryout for a sport, band or play. They know who they are and they have developed their own personal mission statement to guide their path.
