Strategic Plan

Part of Something Bigger

A field map for our school from 2024-2030.

Over the course of the 2023-2024 school year, BCD's Board of Trustees completed the strategic planning process that resulted in the below new vision, mission, and set of core values that will lead our school into the future. The process was inclusive of all BCD constituents and included focus groups, surveys, meetings, and interviews. These new shared statements of purpose provided the Board of Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team with the opportunity to create a dynamic and innovative 6-year strategic plan guided by our core values.

Our Strategic Commitments

For our community to grow and thrive, we must coalesce around a shared set of standards that will guide our students toward graduation with equal parts challenge and support. Our values are the cornerstones of how we show up in our community and are tenets we work hard to uphold everyday.

Take Care of Ourselves and Others

We know that to truly succeed we must feel safe and supported in all aspects of our lives. We prioritize our collective well-being and take responsibility for our actions and the impact they have on others.

Strategic Priorities for Take care of ourselves and others

  • Implement consistent and shared expectations for all students, families, and employees to establish a student-centered environment that promotes fairness, accountability, and student success.
  • Establish and implement strategies to recruit, support, inspire, and retain exceptional values-aligned staff and faculty.
  • Develop a long-term financial plan to ensure the strength and sustainability of the school.

Explore Many Paths

We encourage ourselves to try a variety of experiences, discover new ways to answer old questions, and find our unique passions along our journey of lifelong learning.

Strategic Priorities for Explore many paths

  • Enhance experiential learning opportunities that enable students to actively investigate, authentically reflect, and fully participate in a global society.
  • Continually evolve the use and understanding of technology to ensure students have the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
  • Enrich extracurricular offerings to provide more opportunities for students to explore their interests and develop their passions.

Meet the Challenge

Education teaches us how to think, not what to think. We lean on our supportive environment to push ourselves to the next level, demonstrating resilience and curiosity when the answers aren’t obvious.

Strategic Priorities for Meeting the challenge

  • Define, implement, and be accountable to a shared academic philosophy that emphasizes excellence, innovation, and experiential learning to empower students to catalyze global change.
  • Implement strategies and curricula to equip students with the perseverance and resilience needed to meet global challenges and thrive in real-world settings.
  • Align academic content between and across grades to promote consistency, coherence, and continuity.
  • Clearly define and communicate the student learning needs BCD can support.

Create Inclusion and Belonging

Learning from the perspectives of others opens our minds and hearts. We build empathy by showing respect and interest in others’ unique contributions.

Strategic Priorities for Creating Inclusion and Belonging

  • Clearly define equity and inclusion at BCD.
  • Consistently embed and enforce the adopted Social Justice Standards across all BCD curricula and programming to reflect the school’s dedication to anti-bias, anti-racism, belonging, and multiculturalism.
  • Actively work to ensure the BCD school community is as diverse as the world we prepare students for.
