Alumni Profiles

At BCD, we are preparing students to actively shape the world around them. Here are some ways our amazing alumni are doing just that.

Celia Tewey '14

Celia attended the Tisch School of Arts at NYU where she earned a BFA in Film and Photography, is a multi award winner for self-produced films, and is currently an Assistant Producer at NBC Dateline.

Diego Gonzalez '13

Diego’s desire to expand healthcare access led to bringing a cancer diagnostic application to rural communities in Brazil. He is currently earning his PhD in Bioengineering at Rice University and working on a CRISPR-Cas HIV based lateral flow strip diagnostic test.

Sophia Wittemyer '16

Sophia works as an Assistant Editor at the Africa Center for Policy & Strategy and is a Masters student at Tuft’s Fletcher School working to strengthen defense and governments on the African continent.

Elizabeth Marr '20

Elizabeth is the host of Elizabeth’s Craft Corner, a twice-monthly show broadcast to multiple medical campuses across the Colorado Children’s Hospital closed-circuit channel.

Emma Carter '15

Emma graduated CU with degrees in Ethnic Studies and Psychology and studied abroad in Tanzania. After completing a "post-bacc" Pre-Med program at the University of Virginia, she is currently preparing to take the MCAT.

Jackson Carter '14

Jackson received undergraduate and master's degrees in Theoretical Physics from École Normale Supérieure (Paris). After finishing a master's degree in Paleontology, he is now working on a PhD in Deep Learning at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle in Paris.

Avery-Grace Blanco '13

Avery-Grace works for SAVES National Legal Center on Children and Domestic Violence & is author of Floor Sleepers, a case study documenting a human trafficking survivor’s story.

Justus Carter '17

Justus graduated from CU with majors in both Neuroscience and Pre-Health, as well as a minor in Business. He is now studying for the MCAT.

Emma Weber '18

Emma is studying Public Policy Analysis at the University of Virginia where she is also Captain of the swim team. Emma is a life long swimmer and a Gold Team Olympian.

Maile Chargualaf '20

Maile has played soccer most of her life, including playing for BCD and currently at Wheaton College. She also qualified for and was honored to play for Guam’s National Women’s Team.

Madeline Stapp '18

Maddi is a research assistant at Vanderbilt University investigating discrimination in pharmacy treatment of Spanish and Arabic speakers.

Charlie Boyle '15

Charlie studied Food Systems at Prescott College and is committed to providing access to locally grown, nutritious, & culturally appropriate food as a right and not a privilege.

Kara Holbrook '12

Kara works across the renewable energy ecosystem including solar and microgrid developers, environmental engineering firms, and nonprofits, to design and implement comprehensive EV charging infrastructure projects.

Marina Fayfield '21

Marina has been playing music and writing songs for many years and served as a Capstone Mentor to a BCD student. Marina is attending Belmont University in Nashville where she plans to build a career in music.

Liana James Larremore '01

Liana was a member of BCD’s first graduating class. She has held positions with Seas at Risk, Clean Air Task Force, the Environmental Defense Fund, and is currently an Assistant County Attorney for Boulder County.

Liana serves on the BCD Board of Trustees.

Stephen Griffin '13

Stephen, now in the US Navy, attended USC and earned a BA in Political Science with a minor in Human Security and Geospatial Intelligence.

Logan Tidstrom '12

Logan earned her BA at the University of Michigan. She’s now a graduate student studying Artificial Intelligence in taxes & law spending one year one in Dublin and one in Leon, Spain.

Julia Klein '22

Julia is a senior at Niwot High School and is a regular volunteer on the event committee at Community Food Share.

Lucy Paradise '22

Lucy is part of Cellists for Change, a nonprofit organization that advocates for underrepresented composers and provides scholarships for young musicians in Guatemala. Her career goal is to be a concert cellist and compose/direct film scores.

Oliver ('15) and Alex ('18) Jones

Oliver and Alex Jones founded Endure Beyond, a 501 c3 running community that partners with marathons across the country to donate to the American Cancer Society. The Jones brothers run in honor of their late grandmother, Carol, who inspired them with her strength through eight remissions of ovarian cancer.
