                     BCD Summer Camp Programs!
 
Boulder Country Day is proud to host a wide range of activities for your child this coming summer!
 
Specialty Summer Camps
Boulder Country Day has an exciting line-up of Specialty Summer Camp Programs during June, July, and August for students ages 3 to 16. We are sure that our wide range of these camps will fulfill your child's interests.  Our initial line up of specialty summer camp dates, descriptions, and times will be posted on our website later this week. 
 
Summer Preschool and School Age Day Camp Programs
BCD will also offer summer day camp programs for parents in need of full-time care for preschool or school age students. BCD's Summer Preschool Program is for students ages 3 to 6, and our School Age Program is for students ages 6 to 13.  Both programs are carefully designed to blend fun summer activities with rich learning experiences that promote active participation.  The preschool and school age groups are welcomed into age-appropriate, inviting classrooms and outdoor spaces that are designed to enhance social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth.  Examples of summer preschool and school age program learning experiences include arts and crafts, music, science, physical fitness, cooking, dramatic play, field trips, and games.
 
Preschool Program - for students ages 3 to 6
(who have not yet entered kindergarten)
Daily activities are designed around weekly themes and each theme is enhanced with a wide variety of activities that bring learning to life.
 
School Age Program - for students ages 6 to 13
(students who are 6 must have already completed kindergarten).
This program is designed for older students and features weekly themes and coordinated activities that are exciting and fun.
 
Examples of possible summer weekly themes include:
Amazing animals
Under the sea
Step into storybooks
Lost in space
Cuisine a' la art
Pirate adventures
Lost in space
 
BCD's Summer Preschool and School Age Day Camp Programs:
Hours - Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
June 7 through July 30, 2010*  (sign up for one or multiple weeks)
      *Note - Program closed on July 2 and July 5, 2010
 
Registration for all summer camp programs will be available beginning Tuesday, January 19, 2010 and registration will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Summer offerings can fill up very quickly, so please be sure to register your child early.

 Help us spread the word . . .
                                            MIDDLE SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE
When:  Sunday, January 24th
Time:  1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
 
Tell friends to come and sample our classes, meet teachers and students and see our new building!  Each teacher will be offering a mini-lesson or game in their room.
 
BCD parents and students who come and bring friends will be eligible to win fabulous door prizes!  Tuition credits to BCD families who refer new students that enroll.

Community Food Share is so appreciative of all the support BCD families have given over the last two years during our partnership with them.  See first-hand the types of projects your BCD students participate in during their service field trips.  Learn how your many monthly food donations are utilized; tour the warehouse.  Please RSVP to Terry Tedeschi at ttedeschi@communityfoodshare.org.

BCD Talent Show Forms Due!!
All Kindergarten through 8th grade students interested in participating must fill out an application, which needs to be returned to Mrs. Shields no later than Wednesday, January 20th.  Please click here for a link to print out an application that includes all the detailed information.  Extra talent show applications will be available at the front desk.   

Auditions will be held on Thursday, January 21st from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm in the gym/music rooms.  Each act needs to be 2 minutes or less.   The Talent Show will be held on Friday, February 5th at 8:15 - 10:00 am.

Family Movie Night
A special Thank You goes out to Britt Steiner for all her efforts towards Family Movie Night this past Friday!  A small, but enthusiastic crowd had a good time munching on popcorn and enjoying the movie, Holes.

The menu and link for February ordering will be posted on the BCD website and the Edline Parent Portal on Friday, January 15th.  Please be sure to get your orders in prior to the January 27th deadline.

And, we need . . . .donations! LOTA has been successful thanks to the generosity of BCD's parents and community. Donations for all parts of the event, especially live and silent auction items are now being accepted - nothing is too big or too small! Donations may be made be made on-line by clicking here for the link or, there are hardcopy donation forms available from Ruth Balster at the front desk in the Administration Building. A "LOTA" bin has also been placed in the Resource Room in the Admin. P.T.O. Seeking Booster Club Volunteer

Community Service News
This month's food drive for Community Food Share will be held the week of January 25 - 29th.  Our 2nd grade students will be heading up the food drive and will collect CEREAL / OATMEAL during the morning and afternoon carlines. 
 
Future food drives (so you can stock up when you see sales!) are:

Niwot Event Info
One of our former BCD parents  is now on the Board of Niwot High School Education Foundation and has asked our assistance in getting information to those parents who will have students attending Niwot High in the future.  The NHS Education Foundation is hosting its 15th Annual Gala on February 6, 2010.  If anyone is interested in attending, please

It's Girl Scout Cookie Time!
We wanted to let you know that our own fourth grade Junior Girl Scout Troop 1511 will be selling the fabulous Girl Scout Cookies on campus beginning February 8th through the 12th during afternoon carline, so plan accordingly for your cookie purchases!
